I’m Daniel Underhill, aka "The Joyful Trader" — a lifelong learner, former software CEO, surgical nurse, and options trader with nearly three decades of real-world experience in decision-making under uncertainty.

For 22 years, I founded and led a software development company (Keyframe Programming), building systems where precision, logic, and long-term thinking weren’t optional — they were required. That background shaped the way I approach complex problems: break them down, remove confusion, and build understanding step by step.

For the past 11 years, I’ve also worked as a surgical nurse, where clarity, discipline, and emotional control aren’t theoretical — they matter in real time, with real consequences. That experience deeply influences how I teach. I believe confidence comes from understanding, not hype, shortcuts, or pressure.

And for over 30 years, I’ve been an active trader — with nearly 15 years focused specifically on options. Like many people, I struggled early on. Options felt confusing, overly technical, and poorly explained. It took years of study, mistakes, and refinement before everything finally clicked. This course exists because I wanted to build the explanation I wish I’d had from the beginning.

I’m not here to sell signals, promise quick wins, or present myself as a guru. I’m here to teach options the way a great college professor would: clearly, honestly, and without bias. My goal isn’t to tell you what to trade — it’s to help you understand options well enough to make your own decisions with confidence and independence.
